Gold Coast

October 2005, by Tom

On Tom's return home from an extended Contiki vacation in 2004, a letter awaited him to explain that he had won a trip for two for a week on the Gold Coast! He couldn't believe his luck, but was so exhausted from the Contiki holiday, he left it nearly a year before thinking about it again. Facing expiry, it became urgent that something needed to be done to or the trip would be lost for good. So Tom asked Gini to join him ....... It took a bit of persuasion, but eventually Gini succumbed.

Thus begun Tom and Gini's first overseas holiday together!

The holiday consisted of an enormous amount of shopping, a large amount of eating, a great number of hours sleeping, several hours beach and poolside lounging and a few hours of sight seeing. All in all, the holiday was an incredible experience for both of us and an obvious sign that there will be plenty more holidays to come!

Some Highlights:

Tom managed to get a $400 leather jacket reduced to $50 due to it being 'scuffed'! You will probably see him wearing this jacket in snowstorms, during times of drought, or at the beach.

We both left Dreamworld feeling rather ill, after deciding that surely we can handle riding on one of the little kiddie rides. It turns out that theme parks are not our forte. The giant drop ride was a thrill and a half though. It was a pity that our photo of the fall went missing, destroying all evidence! However, the nightmares are still there ....

Dracula's - a dinner / cabaret was well worth seeing. To aid in our relaxation, Tom decided to order a soccer ball sized cocktail consisting of floating lychee's in a deathly mixture of fruit and alcoholic liquids, only to find out that Gini didn't like lychee's and ended up drinking most of the concoction himself!
