Best Wellington Summer Ever!

February 2008, by Gini

We heard what a great summer New Zealand was having, got FOMO (fear of missing out) syndrome and popped home to have some fun in the sun.

A trip to Wellington isn't complete without a wine trail of our favourite NZ drop. Argh how I have missed the NZ white wine. Martinborough put on another splendor of a day - I haven't been disappointed yet. So the walking, eating and of course drinking begun. The day couldn't have finished better with some much needed (or more wanted) fish and chips - a good old kiwi classic. Followed by Lauren's family famous games for dessert.

It just so happened that Joshes fancy stag do was in town too so Tom jumped ship to the boys night in Martie which might I add started at 10am! which left the Turner crew to drive to few more vineyards and have a fancy lunch at Coney wineries in the sun- naturally.

A few more glasses and a swim in the river later we headed back to sunny Wellington and left Tom to behave like a male.

With the weather still so good, we got back to nature and walked around the Eastern Walkway and saw a bit of the coast and few kooky houses along the way. Lu lu joined us in the journey to conquer Mt Kau Kau which I finished it off with a refreshing drive into Khandallah pool - no one else joined me, so strange.

We were lucky to time it well for Jen and Dave's engagement party which was an added bonus. It felt like we hadn't even left! Alan befriended some tanned looking birds and we got excited of what's to come in the near future.

Then came the goodbyes, which were a lot harder this time around. We left Wellington with great memories so we will be back for sure!
