Three years ago I was running my local Makara loop and bumped into a few people part way through a 62k trail race around Wellington. Holy crap! Mad people! Now here I am, three years later, having completed that same race and I am now one of those mad people. What an amazing day it was. So well organised with friendly faces at the aid stations, friendly runners always checking how things are if you’re looking a bit rough (which I did for a good portion of the race). It was so nice seeing Gini and the girls part way as well as Graham and Lisa and then Mum and Dad in the later stages as my pacer mate Andy was helping me battle on to the finish. 22nd overall after stomach problems slowly dropped me from 5th place from 30k onwards. Better race week nutrition for when I run it again next year! Which I will definitely be doing!

An exciting outing for olive and iris into town for matariki night fireworks First real fireworks at a reasonable time of 6.30! The darkness made them hyper but lots of fun with cuzzies. Olives tantrum after is slowly receding....
|
We checked out a puppet show and toi art space at Te Papa with the cuzzies. Finished it off with daddy and sushi (which they now love! Yay!) fun morning.

Juni and her bffs Arlo & Leo at our second playgroup ever (third child and I managed to avoid them thus far!) it wasn’t too bad, less work than playcentre but not as fulfilling!
